Painting Skies And Clouds In Watercolor

These Two Landscape Elements Are Tailor-Made For The Strength Of Watercolor

Skies and clouds are universal elements for landscape paintings. Even when they are not the featured subject, their presence serves as at least a back drop.  Often, the sky and the clouds in the sky are important supporting elements, helping us to understand the direction and quality of light, time of day and even time of year.

Both sky and cloud are easily painted and perfectly suited to the watercolor medium. Generally they are light, soft and exude glowing transparency – all characteristics of the watercolor medium at its best.

These videos include lessons where the sky or clouds are featured elements of the scene.  All use easy, fundamental watercolor painting techniques that anyone can master.
