About This Lesson

The subject of this lesson is complex with many objects that are reflective and some that are transparent. It’s the kind of subject that is intimidating and a little confusing – both of which often cause one to tighten up and get ‘fussy’ with the painting.

This lesson show how to simplify a complex scene, while also simplifing the effects of reflection and transparency. 

It’s a Challenging Lesson!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Brushes – Large, Medium, Small rounds and a Rigger.
  • Colors – Cadmium Orange, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Quinacridone Burnt Scarlet, Quinacridone Deep Gold, Indanthrene Blue
  • Color Substitutes – Mixture of Cadmium Red and Cadmium Yellow for Cadmium Orange, Raw Sienna for Deep Gold, Mixture of Permanent Alizarin Crimson and Burnt Sienna for Burnt Scarlet, Thalo or Ultramarine Blue for Indanthrene Blue
  • Watercolor paper – preferably Arches 140lb Cold Press cut to about 8″ x 10″ or so
