Paint Black-Eyed Susans In A Vase
- Working with free-flowing washes
- Connecting individual shapes into compositional masses
- Using basic techniques for a sophisticated look
This is a quick and easy painting of some Black-eyed Susans in a ceramic vase. It includes practice in massing shapes and working with loose, fluid washes to avoid ‘pickiness’.
Massing individual elements into a larger shape almost always results in a stronger composition and a more interesting shape. In this case, the small vase contains a bouquet of Black-Eyed Susans. The group is more important than the individuals – except for the single blossom leaning out to the left.
