About This Lesson

Many subjects are translucent – that is, some light rays pass through the subject.  This is also know as ‘Transmitted Light’. The effect on the light rays passing through can be represented in paint with skillful use of two Characteristics of Color – Value and Chroma.

This lesson shows how.

What you’ll need:

  • Brushes – Large Round,  Medium Round, Small Round, and Rigger .
  • Colors – Cadmium Yellow, Aureolin Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue
  • Watercolor paper – preferably Arches 140lb Cold Press cut to about 6″ x 8″ or so
